IAWPF Policy Two
INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION AND SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
A. Objectives:
1) To increase understanding of the role of women
officers in various countries worldwide and to encourage participation in the
International Association of Women Police.
2) To increase international understanding and awareness
of women in law enforcement and the International Association of Women Police
and to recognize the accomplishments of
women officers globally.
B. Criteria for Selection of the Award
Recipient:
1) Selection criteria of this award are the same as those
set forth in IAWP Policy and Procedure No. 5, International Recognition And
Scholarship Award. These criteria is available on the IAWP website.
C. Policy and Duties of the Committee Chair:
1) The Committee Chair shall promote the objectives and
select a candidate to receive the International Recognition and Scholarship
Award.
2) The Chair shall notify the President and Conference
Director of the selection.
3) The funds for the Award shall be available and
guaranteed before the candidate is notified.
4) The Chair shall make arrangements for purchase of the
plaques and/or certificates, then review and approve all invoices before
forwarding to the Treasurer for payment.
Total cost of plaques, medals, etc., shall not exceed $100.00 without
approval of the Treasurer.
5) The Chair shall be responsible for completing contact
with the Award winner to facilitate the payment of travel, lodging and other
expenses and coordinate these efforts through the Treasurer. The Treasurer shall, when feasible, use the
corporate credit card for payment of travel and lodging of the award winner.
6) The Chair shall submit a report to the 501C3 Board of
Directors at their next board meeting, that shall include a full detailed
financial report and accounting of all expenses incurred for postage, awards,
etc., incurred during the selection process.
The report shall also include how many submissions were received and
from which countries.
D. Guidelines:
1) Award winners’ conference registration fees shall be
considered a conference expense for accounting purposes. The Conference
Director shall assess the value of the conference fees at the lowest rate
offered or equivalent to the Board rate.
2) One candidate shall be selected each year to attend
the annual conference, provided that funding is available.
3) The Award shall include payment of:
(a) Travel expenses and the base conference room rate for
lodging.
(b) Maximum of $30.00 per day for incidentals.
(c) The total of all expenses may not exceed $3,000.00,
without the approval of the 501C3 Officers and/or Board of Directors.
4) Certificate of Merit honorees may be considered for
full or part sponsorship of attendance based upon:
(a) Financial need
(b) IAWP membership
(c) Country of origin
(d) Prior attendance at past IAWP conferences
(e) Ability to obtain a visa
(f) Availability of IAWP Foundation funds
(g) Consideration and input of the Committee Chair
5) All other incidentals are the responsibility of the
recipient
6) The 501C3 Board of Directors will make the final
decision regarding sponsorship of International honorees.
7) The Committee Chair shall be responsible to notify the
honoree of sponsorship, detailing the exact nature of what financial aid will
be provided if the honoree attends the conference. (i.e.; conference registration fee only, air fare only, room
only, etc.)
8) Sponsored honorees may be asked to share a room with
other selected honorees.
